Apple Mixed Reality Headset May House M2 Chipset That Powers MacBook Air, MacBook Pro

The Apple M2 currently powers the new MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro. Both the laptops were launched at WWDC 2022 with the M2 chipset.

Apple’s mixed reality headset is a highly anticipated product. The mixed reality headset is said to come with both AR and VR capabilities, and the company is said to make use of multiple cameras and processors on the device. Now, a report states that Apple may use the Apple M2 chipset on the Mixed Reality headset.

According to a Bloomberg report, the Cupertino-based giant will now use its latest M2 chipset on mixed reality headsets. The report says that the Mixed Reality headset will come with Apple The M2 chip is paired with 16GB of RAM. Now, this is a little different from previous reports of Apple using the chip. M1-level capabilities with an additional low-end processor. While the second chipset is not mentioned in the Bloomberg report, it has been mentioned earlier in a report by The Information and by noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

With the Apple M2 chip now launched, swapping out the M1 for the M2 only makes sense if all the reports were true and Apple was actually planning to put the M1 chip on mixed reality headsets.

Apple has launched Apple M2 The chipset during its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2022 earlier this month. The chipset comes with an 8-core CPU and up to a 12-core GPU. Apple claims that it is 25 percent faster than the M1 and can support up to 24GB of integrated memory. Apple M2 has a 16-core Neural Engine, and the chipset is capable of supporting 100 GB/s memory bandwidth.
