Apple top brass likely to be introduced in US antitrust probe against Google

A lawyer representing Apple said Friday that the Justice Department wants to fire some of Apple’s top executives as it prepares for a trial to determine whether Alphabet’s Google has played a role in running its search business. The antitrust law has been broken. In its complaint, the Justice Department accused Google of paying billions of dollars each year in exclusion agreements with Apple, Samsung and others to make Google’s search engine the default on their devices.

At a pre-trial hearing, Steven Sunshine, speaking for AppleSaid the government is seeking statements from “the most senior Apple executives.”

Sunshine also indicated that it was unclear what the Justice Department wanted from Apple.

US Justice Department sued Google In October 2020, the $1 trillion (about Rs 75,62,921 crore) company was accused of illegally using its market power to woo rivals. A test date was set for September 12, 2023.

Groups from the US Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission and the state attorney general launched a variety of investigations into Big Tech platforms nearly two years ago, some of which have resulted in lawsuits.
