Apple will add additional payment options for dating apps in this country

Apple Inc. will follow the Dutch rule to allow third-party payment options for dating apps, marking the first time the company is allowing external payments within App Store apps.

Apple said late Friday that it is releasing a pairing it calls entitlements that will allow developers in the Netherlands to implement its third-party payment services to pay for dating apps.

This would bypass Apple’s 15% to 30% revenue share, which has been heavily scrutinized by governments and developers in many countries.

The iPhone maker said dating app developers can continue to use Apple’s system and outlined the benefits of doing so.

“Since Apple will not be directly aware of purchases made using alternative methods, Apple may not be aware of users’ issues with refunds, purchase history, subscription management, and other issues when purchasing digital goods and services through these alternative purchase methods. Won’t be able to help.” The company said in a message to developers posted on its website.

The company also said that it disagrees with the decision and is appealing against it.

“Because we do not believe these orders are in the best interests of our users, we have appealed the ACM’s decision to the High Court,” Apple said. “We are concerned that these changes may compromise the user experience, and pose new threats to the user.” Privacy and data security.”

Apple said it would let developers of select apps point users across the web to complete transactions this year.

The company was ordered by the Dutch antitrust authority to allow dating apps to use other payment systems or be fined up to 50 million euros ($57 million), with a January 15 deadline to make changes.

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets said Apple imposes “unfair terms” by not allowing free options for in-app payments other than Apple’s in-app purchases.
