Aprilia Storm 125 disc brake variant to be discontinued from July

Piaggio India said that its entry-level Aprilia offering will now be available only in a drum brake variant priced at Rs. 1.01 lakh.

Piaggio India has announced that it will discontinue its disc brake variant Aprilia Storm 125 The scooter will be effective from July 1, 2022. The company has said that its entry-level Aprilia offering will now be available only in the drum brake variant, which is priced at ₹ 1.01 lakh. The Storm disc brake variant was introduced in 2020 with a BS6 transition and is currently priced at ₹ 1.12 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The scooter competes with other sporty 125cc offerings in the segment including Honda Grazia, TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Avenis and Yamaha RAZR 125.

The Aprilia Storm 125 draws power from a 124.45cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 9.78 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 9.60 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The motor is mated to a CVT unit. The model gets telescopic front forks and a single-coil rear spring at the rear. With the disc brake variant gone, the model will only be available with drum brakes at either end with CBS (combi-braking system) as standard. Compared to the Aprilia SR 125, the Aprilia Storm 125 gets knobby V tyres.

Other features of the Aprilia Storm 125 include a twin-pod instrument cluster and 6-litre fuel tank. The model is available in five color options – Red, White, Black, Yellow and Blue. Recently, Piaggio India increased the prices across its scooter range by up to Rs 6,728, depending on the model. While the range starts with the Strom 125, the Aprilia SXR 160 is the most expensive offering from the brand, priced at ₹ 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
