AR Rahman honored at 43rd Cairo International Film Festival

Music maestro AR Rahman on Monday said he was paid a special tribute at the 43rd Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) for his contribution in the field of music.

The acclaimed musician, who is one of the most popular Indian artists globally, is known for his musical skills in various film industries such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Hollywood.

Rahman, 54, shared the news of receiving the honor at the film festival with his fans on Instagram.

In the past, Rahman has won several awards including six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award.

In 2010, the Government of India honored him with the country’s third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan.

Rahman’s film-scoring career began with the Tamil film “Roja” starring Mani Ratnam, and thereafter he sang several songs for Tamil and Telugu language films.
