Are health foods really healthy? Celebrity nutritionist busts 3 common myths

Let’s admit, we all know how important it is to eat nutritious foods to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Healthy food and healthy life go hand in hand. This is the reason why most of us pay extra attention to our food and drink every day. Apart from this, we also like to keep ourselves updated with all the health and diet related news available on the internet. Every day we come across different advertisements, posts and videos which tell the goodness of many health foods. According to these posts, many of us include those food products in our diet to make it healthy. But have you ever wondered whether those food products are (or aren’t) healthy?! To make it easier for everyone, celebrity nutritionist Lavneet Batra took to Instagram to debunk some of the most common myths that have been doing the rounds for years.

Nutritionist Lavneet Batra shared a post on her Instagram handle which read, “There are a lot of myths about eating healthily. And, just because it feels healthy doesn’t mean it. So, here are 3 foods The marketing claims of those who may not are as healthy as they are.” let’s take a look.

Here are 3 foods that aren’t as healthy as they seem:

1. Sugar-Free Option-

Sugar-free substitutes are used to mimic the sweet taste of sugar, but that doesn’t make them a healthy food. These artificial sweeteners can increase your overall caloric intake, make you crave real sugar, cause insulin resistance and alter the gut micro-biome.

2. Refined oil-

Refined oil (or vegetable oil) is one of the most commonly used ingredients in our kitchen. But unfortunately, not everything that comes from a vegetable is a healthy food. Partially hydrogenated vegetable oil can raise bad cholesterol and increase your risk for heart disease.

3. Pre-Made Smoothie Bowls-

Premade smoothies may seem packed with nutrients and seem like an easy way to reach your health goals. But did you know they pack a ton of added sugar and filler juice from the concentrate?! These factors make these smoothies not so healthy afterwards.

Keeping this in mind, we suggest that you always make an informed decision before adopting any changes in your diet or lifestyle. Lavneet Batra concluded, “Remember, the most powerful tool you have for nutrition is the knowledge of what you are eating.”
