Army: 13 terrorists, 7 soldiers killed in attack on security posts in Pakistan – Times of India

Karachi: Armed assailants attacked two camps of security forces in the city Pakistanturbulent southwest Balochistan province, a rapid exchange of fire began, in which at least 13 terrorists and seven soldiers were killed, the Army said on Thursday.
The attacks, later claimed by the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), took place in Panjguru and Noshki district on Wednesday. In Panjgur, terrorists tried to enter the security forces camp from two locations, while in Noshki they tried to break into the Frontier Corps (FC) post.
According to a statement by the Pakistani Army, after successfully repulsing the attacks on both the posts, the forces launched an evacuation operation to hunt down the terrorists hiding in the area.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said in a video message that nine terrorists and four soldiers were killed in Noshki.
“The Pakistani army pushed out the terrorists from both the places. Some – four to five people – are surrounded by the army in Panjgur and they will be defeated,” he said, describing it as a “major success” against terrorism.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took to Twitter on Thursday to congratulate the security forces for thwarting terror attacks on their camps in Balochistan.
He wrote, “We salute our brave security forces who thwarted terrorist attacks against security forces camps at Panjgur and Naushki in Balochistan. The nation stands united behind our security forces who continue to make great sacrifices to protect us.” keep.”
Earlier in a statement, the army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said: “Both the attacks were thwarted successfully, causing heavy casualties to the terrorists.”
A Frontier Corps spokesman also confirmed that there had been two explosions near the camps in Panjgur and Noshki, followed by fierce gunfire.
The BLA claimed responsibility for the attacks in a statement. The separatist organization has recently intensified attacks on security forces and installations.
Wednesday’s attacks were the latest in a string of such attacks in Balochistan and come a week after ten soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack on a security forces check post in the province’s Kech district.
On January 28, three Lewis Force personnel and a Bugti tribal leader were killed and eight others were injured in bomb blasts in Dera Bugti’s Sui area.
On January 30, at least 17 people, including two policemen, were injured in a grenade attack in Dera Allahyar town of Jaffrabad district.
Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan in terms of area. It is also home to the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
