Army school in Jammu closed till May 25 ahead of G20 meet

Amid high alert in Jammu and Kashmir following the Rajouri attack, around a dozen army schools have been closed in the Jammu region as a precautionary measure. This comes ahead of the 3rd G20 Tourism Working Group meeting to be held in Kashmir from May 22 to 24.

“After the attack, a search and combing operation is underway in that area so schools will be closed till May 25 to avoid any inconvenience,” said a senior official involved in the ongoing efforts to nab the terrorists.

NDTV also contacted the Army Goodwill School in Rajouri and the school authorities confirmed that the school has been closed and classes will now be conducted online for the students till May 25.

“Following intelligence inputs of a terror attack, high alert has been sounded in all defense establishments along the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway. At least a dozen military schools, including Sunjuwan and Domana, located on the highway, have been closed for the day ” As a precautionary measure,” said defense officials privy to the development.

According to sources, Army’s Pinewood Public School in Hamirpur area near Bhimber Gali in Poonch district and Army Public School in Akhnoor have also been closed as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, security forces launched searches in Old Poonch and areas near the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex in the border town of Poonch on Wednesday morning after suspicious movement was noticed by some locals.

“The investigation into the Rajouri case indicates that Pakistan supplied arms to the terrorists who opened fire,” says an official associated with the investigation.
