Around 100 students have tested positive for coronavirus at Patiala Government Medical Education College. The authorities have asked the students to vacate the hostel to prevent the spread of the deadly virus within the campus.
Patiala is one of the most affected areas of Punjab. Patiala and Pathankot districts report nearly 50 per cent of the state’s total case load in the last one week. In Patiala, Thapar University, Patiala had also reported Covid-19 cases on the campus.
The state government is contemplating closing down schools, colleges and educational institutions as the Covid-19 cases start rising again. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi held a meeting with State Medical Education Minister Rajkumar Verka and other officials.
