Around 2.5 lakh students of classes X, XI and XII will appear for state board examinations from Thursday in Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet and Tirupattur districts, comprising 1,689 schools.

With the commencement of board exams, 73,391 plus two students, including 46,628 girls, wrote their first paper on Thursday in these districts. This is the first board exam that is being conducted after a gap of two years due to the pandemic.

Collector (Ranipet) D. Interestingly, the newly created districts – Tirupattur and Ranipet – have got the opportunity to conduct their first board exams since their formation three years ago. Before its bifurcation, both these districts were part of Vellore district.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the students in these districts including proper ventilation in the examination hall, clean toilets and adequate free bus services. In these districts, a total of 27,869 students appeared for the Plus Two examination on Thursday. Teams of officers including flying squads, route checking teams, chief senior officers, teams of departmental staff and teachers were involved in the massive exercise of conducting board exams in these districts. Officials said there are also strong rooms for question papers and written answer sheets, with round-the-clock security with CCTV cameras and armed police personnel.
