Pakistan captain Babar Azam said that ups and downs are an integral part of a cricketer’s life. Babar hasn’t had the best campaign in the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup. In four matches, the 27-year-old has scored only 33 runs at an average of 8.25 and strike rate of 117.85 with a top score of 14 against India in the Super Four match on 4 September.

Babar scored a golden duck during Pakistan’s match against Afghanistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, September 7. In the second over of Pakistan’s run-chase, Fazlhaq Farooqui took the all-important wicket of Lahore-born Babar.

Despite his impeccable form, Babar is not too impatient and feels he has the confidence to make a comeback.

“It is not written that I will score runs in every match, ups and downs are part of cricket. During that phase, having self confidence is essential, and it matters a lot,” Babar was quoted as saying in a video uploaded on Cricket Pakistan’s YouTube channel.

While his form with the bat has not been that great, Babar has been exceptional as the captain of the Pakistan national team. Pakistan began their campaign with a five-wicket loss to India at the hands of Rohit Sharma in Dubai.

From there, they have won three matches in a row and have already made it to the finals. Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by one wicket on Wednesday after Naseem Shah hit two sixes in the last over of the match.
