Phuket: Indian archers won two gold and six silver medals and finished second Bangladesh in the overall standings of Asia Cup World Ranking Stage 1 Tournament on Saturday.
In an empty field without South Korea, China, Chinese Taipei and Japan, India had advanced to seven out of 10 finals.
But they did not live up to the expectations and came under pressure after losing five finals, either in a tie-breaker or by a small margin in cloudy conditions.
Two of the five losses were against neighboring Bangladesh, who topped the medal tally with three gold and one silver.
Two golds came in the recurve men’s team and mixed women’s individual category where it was an all-India affair.

The duo hits in the inner 10-ring but Sakshi shoots close to the center to dismiss Preneet.
Partha Salunkhe, Rahul Nagarwal and Dheeraj B knocked out the first round in the individual event to win the team gold in the recurve men’s section.
The trio were at their consistent best and the match picked up pace to beat their rivals from Kazakhstan 6–2 (53–53, 57–57, 56–55, 57–54).
India missed out on gold in the recurve women’s team event after losing to Bangladesh in a 4–5 (48–47, 45–54, 56–60, 56–50, T: 27–28) tiebreaker.
The top seeded Indian trio of Riddhi Fore, Tisha Punia and Tanisha Verma lost their lead after scoring a poor 45 in the second set.
Bangladesh seized control to level it before winning the tiebreaker 28–27.
Bangladesh once again became India’s enemy in the recurve mixed team gold medal match.
Top seeded pair of Riddhi Fore and Parth Salunkhe lost 3-1 to lead 3-1 to win the silver medal after losing 3-5 (37-34, 37-37, 35-38, 36-37).
In the compound men’s individual final, second seed Rishabh Yadav scored a poor 126 to beat Iran’s Mohammadsaleh Palizban by 19 points.
India also missed out on the mixed men’s and women’s team gold medals and lost both the finals by a margin of one point each.
The top-seeded trio of Prathamesh Javkar, Yadav and Priyansh lost 232-233 to their Kazakhstan opponents, while the women’s team Sakshi Choudhary, Aditi Swamy and Pragati lost 230-231 to hosts Thailand.
India also lost both their bronze playoffs.
In the recurve women’s individual event, Tisha Punia lost to Malaysia’s Noor Ain Ayuni Fozzi, while Javkar lost to Iran’s Syed Kausar in the men’s compound individual.
