super 4s stage Asia Cup 2022 Starting today (September 3) in Sharjah, UAE Sri Lanka’s match against Afghanistan In the first skirmish on stage. The other 2 teams that have qualified for Super 4 are India and Pakistan. India reached Super 4 with victories over Pakistan and Hong Kong. While Pakistan had to face defeat in its own 1st match vs india, they made a comeback in style on Friday after beating Hong Kong. These 3 teams were part of Group A, and only 2 could continue their journey. Hong Kong was left out of the team. Similarly, in Group B, Bangladesh were eliminated after failing to secure a single win. They were defeated by Afghanistan and Sri Lanka respectively, who made it to the Super 4.

Many fans will be confused about the Super 4 format. Some think it is the semi-final stage, as in a multi-nation tournament. Wrong. These are not semifinals. That’s why this stage is called Super 4S. In this phase all the four teams will play against each other.

“Instead of a normal semi-final stage, the teams advancing from the two groups play each other in a second round-robin stage. From there, the top two sides go face-to-face in the final of the tournament. The points stage from the starting group is the Super Four. does not proceed to phase one,” the ICC explains the Super 4 phase on its website. That means, if we say one team, India, they will play Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan once in this stage of the tournament.

So all four teams in Super 4 – India, Pakistan, SL and Afghanistan – will need to ensure that they win as many games as possible to increase their chances of qualifying.

Since India and Pakistan are ranked top 2 in the stage, it is likely that they will make it to the final. However, one cannot deny the in-form Afghanistan team which has been unbeaten in the tournament so far. And Sri Lanka, who can punch above his own weight if needed.
