Assam: 23,000 youths get appointment letters for government jobs

Moving towards achieving the poll promise of providing 1 lakh jobs, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday handed over job appointment letters to around 23,000 youth. In a formal distribution, Sarma said that with these 22,958 new recruitments in 11 departments, his administration has provided government jobs to around 28,000 youth in the last one year.

He said, “After the improvement in the situation of Kovid-19, we had appointed 4,700 youth in the education department in September last year.”

The chief minister also said that another batch of 7,000-8,000 youth would be recruited by July 15, while the written test for recruitment to another 26,000 posts would be conducted by July-end.

Of the 22,598 new recruits, the highest was in the Department of Education (11,063), followed by Home (8,867) and Health (2,419).

Recruitment process was fair

The CM stressed that the recruitment process is fair and transparent. “People should have faith and belief in this process. I have urged my cabinet colleagues, officers and government employees to ensure a fair and transparent selection process.”

Noting that the state has zero tolerance for corruption, he said, “We are on a mission to turn Assam into a top performing state. We will count on your support to serve people with integrity and dedication. I am sure that the enthusiasm of the new recruits will infuse new dynamism in the entire administrative machinery.”

He also urged the new recruits to take care of their parents as they have reached here because of the sacrifice of their parents.

“The state government has already made a law in this regard, but everyone should take care of the parents on their own accord and not by the compulsion of the law,” he said.
