Assam cabinet gives financial relief to EWS category, those earning less than Rs 8 lakh per annum will be benefitted

The Assam cabinet on Monday brought major changes for the people belonging to the economically weaker sections.

The cabinet decided that those who belong to general caste category but whose annual income is less than Rs.8 lakh and not more than 30 bighas of land in rural area or 2 bighas of land in urban area and property up to 8240. One can get the benefit of EWS in square feet in the municipal area.

Cabinet minister Jayant Malla Baruah said, “We did this because we checked the fact that most people have joint families in villages, so they need to have that much agricultural land. We could see that those who have contributed 8 lakh But the entire joint family having more than 5 acres of land, they were deprived of EWS benefits.The ultimate goal is to guarantee that no one, who needs EWS benefits, is deprived of it.

Further, Barua clarified that any Indian citizen, regardless of any religion, would enjoy these rights.

In addition, he said that a museum, guest house and conference hall will now be built in Assam under the supervision of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. Apart from this, Assam will also take 4000 square feet of land in Navi Mumbai for tribal faith and culture.

The Assam cabinet also adopted a revised State Action Plan on Climate Change, becoming the fourth state in the country to do so.

“In view of the need of a National Forensic University in the State, the Cabinet on Monday decided to have a National Forensic Science University. Until the university comes into shape, the students will start classes at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital,” Barua said.
