Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday attacked the BJP government, saying the “eyes and ears of the government will be opened in the first phase itself”, as farmers and youth have “made up their mind” to defeat the BJP. Speaking earlier in Agra, he alleged that people were being threatened against voting for his party over the phone after he emerged as a powerful contender in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
He also asked people to record such threatening calls so that FIRs could be registered on their basis after his government came to power. “Ever since SP has emerged as a powerful contender in the elections, people are being threatened over the phone. If anyone has such a call, record it. I want to say that the recording will be treated as an FIR,” Yadav said without naming anyone.
Yadav made this allegation while addressing a meeting of workers in the Bah assembly constituency of Agra. He said that the assembly elections in the state are to save the future of Uttar Pradesh and the constitution of the country. “This election is to save the future of UP and the Constitution. The SP chief reiterated that his party would provide 300 units of electricity free to domestic consumers and old pension to government employees. “The electricity bill gives (to the consumers) an electric shock. The BJP government has not set up even a single power plant and we are forced to pay exorbitant rates of electricity. The BJP’s ‘transformer’ will be ‘fused’ with voters’ anger, Yadav said, adding that the SP would give 300 units of free electricity to the people after coming to power.
According to a former senior power officer of UP, all the transformers are connected to the common secondary circuit through secondary fuses. The purpose of these fuses is to disconnect a faulty transformer from the secondary circuit. He said that fuses are used to protect electrical equipment when the system is overloaded. “The chief minister had promised to distribute laptops and tablets, but did anyone get anything? Yadav said that farmers are forced to fence their fields and the money being released for rehabilitation of stray cows is not reaching the people. “This chief minister can only change the name and colour, so we should also bring some changes,” he said.
