Assembly election results live updates: Bhagwant Mann’s cabinet will take oath at 11 am, 8 out of 10 ministers became MLAs for the first time

Assembly Election Result Updates: Days after AAP leader Bhagwant Mann was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Punjab, all eyes are on his new cabinet to be formed on Saturday. Ten ministers, including a woman, will be inducted in the state government on Saturday in Punjab. Eight out of 10 ministers have become MLAs for the first time.

Officials said the swearing-in ceremony of Mann’s cabinet will take place at the Punjab Raj Bhavan at 11 am. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also decided to nominate Kultar Singh Sandhwan as the Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. Sources said that after taking oath, the newly appointed minister will take charge at the Punjab Civil Secretariat and the first cabinet meeting of the AAP government will be held in the afternoon.

In a tweet on Friday evening, Bhagwant Mann put up a picture naming the 10 party MLAs who would take oath as ministers and congratulated them. There are 18 berths in the cabinet including that of the Chief Minister. Five of the ten MLAs represent the Malwa region, four from Majha and one from Doaba.

The four MLAs who took oath as ministers represent the reserved constituencies-Dirba, Jandiala, Malout and Bhoa. The ministers who will be inducted include Harpal Singh Cheema, a second-time MLA from Dirba and the party’s Dalit face. He was also the Leader of the Opposition in the previous Assembly.

Barnala’s two-time MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hare will also find a place in the cabinet headed by Mann. Other MLAs who joined the cabinet include Dr Baljit Kaur, Harbhajan Singh from Jandiala, Dr Vijay Singla from Mansa, Lal Chand from Bhoa, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal from Ajnala, Laljit Singh Bhullar from Patti, Brahm Shankar from Hoshiarpur and Harjot Bains from Anandpur. Huh. Sahib. Cheema, a lawyer by profession, defeated Gulzar Singh Moonak of Shiromani Akali Dal by a margin of 50,655 votes.

The BJP on Friday fielded Agnimitra Paul for the Asansol Lok Sabha bypoll and Baby Kumari for the Bochahan assembly bypoll from Bihar. Paul will contest against Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate and former BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha.

Asansol is going to elections as its BJP MP Babul Supriyo quit the party and also joined TMC as an MP. The BJP’s decision to contest the Bochahan bypoll is significant. VIP chief Mukesh Sahni, despite being part of the government in Bihar, has been targeting the BJP in the recent Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in several seats against the BJP and has also fielded its candidates.

The BJP also announced the names of its Rajya Sabha candidates from one seat each in Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Tripura. They are Pabitra Margherita, Sikandar Kumar, S Phangnon Konyak and Manik Saha respectively.
