Assembly Elections: JP Nadda to launch election campaign in Tripura today

Tripura Assembly Elections: BJP national president JP Nadda is scheduled to launch the party’s election campaign in the northeastern state today, Friday. First of all, he will start the Vijay Sankalp Yatra from Amarpur and then hold two rallies here.

He will then hold a meeting with top state leaders to finalize the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections. Apart from this, 35 other rallies will also be taken out across the state, which will be led by both central and state level ministers, according to news agency ANI.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Smriti Irani will also participate in rallies today.

Meanwhile, BJP is likely to release its election manifesto Tripura in the next week. The saffron party registered a landslide victory in the 2018 assembly elections in Tripura, with Manik Sarkar, a Left bastion for more than two decades, as its chief minister.

Following its election victory, the BJP appointed Biplab Deb as the Chief Minister of Tripura and appointed Manik Saha to the role in May 2022.

The BJP has fielded 55 candidates for the elections to 60 assembly seats in the northeastern state, which are scheduled to be held on February 17.

Former CM Manik Sarkar, who belongs to the Communist Party of India (Marxist), will also contest the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

Earlier on January 27, the BJP held a CEC meeting in the national capital to finalize the names of candidates for the upcoming elections. Tripura Assembly Election, The party announced its first list of 48 candidates for the Tripura Assembly elections, with Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik in the fray from Dhanpur. Chief Minister Manik Saha will contest the upcoming state assembly elections from Town Bordovali constituency.

For the first time, 11 women candidates have been given tickets in the state assembly elections. Tripura will go to polls on February 16. The counting of votes along with Nagaland and Meghalaya will take place on March 2.
