At Mega Rally in Rajasthan, Rahul Gandhi’s Attack on “Hinduwadi” BJP

Rahul Gandhi said in Jaipur today, “Those in power are false Hindus.”

Congress’s Rahul Gandhi today targeted BJP over price hike, farmers’ issue and crony capitalism. At a massive rally in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, he launched a direct attack on the BJP over Hindutva – an ideology widely associated with the BJP’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh – which he outlined at the party’s internal session last month. . ,

In his opening remarks, he said, “I am a Hindu. All these people are Hindus. They are Hindutvawadis. I explain.”

Then, in a sentence on “satyagraha” – a term meaning “search for truth” coined by Mahatma Gandhi – he said: “Mahatma Gandhi discovered truth, Nathuram Godse shot him three bullets. He was a Hindutva. – Vaadi. A Hindu is interested in satyagraha. Hindutva-vadis are only after power, they don’t care about the truth. A Hindutva-vadi is only after satyagraha (the pursuit of power).

“Who is a Hindu? Someone who respects every religion and is not afraid of anyone. Those in power are false Hindus… India is experiencing a Hindutva-vadi Raj, not a Hindu Raj. We are in these Want to remove Hindutva-wadis and bring in a Hindu Raj,” Mr Gandhi added at the rally, which was also attended by his mother, party chief Sonia Gandhi, and sister and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Last month, Mr Gandhi sought a distinction between Hinduism and Hindutva at an internal party meeting.

He said, “Is Hinduism about beating a Sikh or a Muslim. Hindutva certainly is. In which book is it written? I haven’t seen it. I have read the Upanishads. I haven’t read it.” “We say there is a difference between Hindutva and Hinduism. It is a simple argument – if you are a Hindu why do you need Hindutva? Why do you need this new name?” He was quoted as saying by news agency Press Trust of India.

The BJP had replied that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress have “pathological hatred” of Hinduism.

BJP’s Sambit Patra said, “It is in the character of Congress and Gandhi family to attack Hinduism at every opportunity… What they say is not a coincidence but an experiment. And the headmaster of this experimental lab is Rahul Gandhi.” was quoted as saying by PTI.

He had said, ‘The Congress leaders have a hatred for Hinduism… and for this they get traction from the Gandhi family.’
