At Virupaksha pre-release event, emotional Sai Dharam Tej recalls his bike accident

Telugu actor Sai Dharam Tej is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Virupaksha. Ahead of its release, the 36-year-old attended a pre-release event of the film held on April 16 at CR Reddy College grounds in Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru city. He was accompanied by the film’s writer Sukumar. In this program, while talking about Virupaksha, Dharam Tej got emotional recalling his horrific bike accident in September 2021. Virupaksha returned to the big screen after a gap of a year, his last film being Republic, which released on 1 October. 2021.

According to a report in The Times of India, Dharam Tej, who was speeding on his bike, was seriously injured, forcing him to take a sabbatical from his work commitments. Talking about the incident, the actor first expressed his love for his mother and his brother Vaishnav Tej. When he was on the road to recovery after the accident and opened his eyes for the first time, he revealed that he felt a lump in his throat upon seeing his family.

The actor lamented that he was so overwhelmed with emotions that he could not even say ‘I love you’ to his mother or brother. He apologized to his family, for their negligence in getting them out of this troubled situation.

Dharam Tej further admitted that initially he was deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident. But, later, he convinced himself that it was a life challenge thrown at him which he successfully overcame. Addressing the crowd, he thanked his fans for their continued love and support during his tough times. “I fought and suffered for this, but I got your love. No matter how difficult it is, I will keep getting your love,” he said.

The Chitralhari actor said he was sharing his story, not to garner sympathy but to inspire his fans, many of whom were young. He admitted that after the fatal accident, his perception of life had changed for the better. He wanted to struggle more and work harder. On a concluding note, the Telugu actor urged people to always wear a helmet and take all necessary precautions while riding a bike.

Helmed by debutant director Karthik Dandu, Virupaksha is set to hit the big screens in five languages ​​Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. The mystic thriller is produced by BVSN Prasad under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Sukumar Writings. Apart from Dharam Tej, Virupaksha also stars Samyuktha Menon as the female lead. The film will hit the silver screens on 21 April.
