Atomic scientists, officers to take management lessons from IIM-A

New Delhi: Atomic scientists, experts and senior officials from four premier organizations including Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) will receive management lessons from IIMs. -Ahmedabad (IIM-A) as government focuses on nuclear power and uses nuclear power to improve energy needs.

DAE has tied up with IIM-A to offer management lessons and nuances for effective leadership through a range of management development programmes. According to the DAE, providing a formal exposure to management to senior executives and potential leaders will improve their effectiveness, and the IIM-A stated that it is looking forward to the government to leverage the potential of nuclear power as an alternative source of energy. outlines its ambitious agenda.

The program will provide participants with an understanding of the latest business practices, management techniques and tools that will allow them to increase efficiency and contribute to their respective organizations.

In addition, IIM-A and Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), under DAE, will also conduct joint research on unique topics including energy policy, risk management, talent management, leadership, public engagement and communication.

Through this, we are confident that we can contribute to one of the important sectors of the Indian economy. The Government of India has launched an ambitious agenda to harness the potential of nuclear power as an alternative source of energy to meet the country’s energy needs and reduce our dependence on other sources of energy. Against this background, we see this as an opportunity to train participants on best practices that will help them apply their learnings in their roles in their respective organizations,” said Errol D’Souza, Director, IIM-A.

KN Vyas, Secretary, DAE said that senior officers in DAE organizations are engaged in various functions including research and development, design, construction, operation, maintenance, project management etc.

“In addition to the domain knowledge required for effective contribution to these roles, an appreciation of the principles and nuances of management has great potential to enhance effectiveness in their roles. Senior officers from DAE institutions like NPCIL, BARC, Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research (IGCAR), and Bhartiya Nabhi Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI) will be trained under this engagement.
