Melbourne: Australia Will be ready to host Asian arch rivals Pakistan And India wants to see world cricket revive a competition in a series, board chief Nick Hawkley said.
The rivalry between Pakistan and India has been confined to events sanctioned by international cricket council ,ICC) and the Asia Cup for the best part of a decade due to strained relations between them.
They last played a bilateral series when India hosted Pakistan for white-ball matches in late 2012.
President of Pakistan Cricket Board Ramiz Raja In January it proposed an annual four-nation T20 series involving Pakistan, India, Australia and England, which would be hosted by the teams in turn.
Cricket Australia CEO Hockley said his board has not discussed the proposal, but is ready to host Pakistan and India in a tri-series.
“Personally, I really like the concept of the tri-series. It has worked well in the past,” he told reporters in Rawalpindi.
“We … are very open to hosting matches,”
“There are actually large communities living in Australia from both India and Pakistan.
“This is a competition that everyone wants to see in world cricket and we would love to do so if we can help support the opportunities ahead.”
With the ICC’s international program Future Tour Program going on till 2023, such series will be unlikely to happen in the short to medium term.
Pakistan and India are scheduled to play each other in the ICC-sanctioned T20 World Cup in Australia in October.
