Domestic automaker Mahindra & Mahindra has released the monthly sales numbers for February 2022, during which the company sold 27,663 passenger vehicles in India. Compared to 19,964 vehicles sold in January 2022, the company witnessed a massive 38.5 per cent month-on-month growth. At the same time, Mahindra saw a much higher 80 per cent year-on-year growth as compared to 15,391 units sold in February 2021. Now, we have to consider the fact that during this period last year, Mahindra did not sell the XUV700, which is currently one of its top-sellers in the company’s line-up, hence, the development was done only once. There is discrepancy.

In February 2022, Mahindra’s cumulative sales, as well as exports, from the passenger and commercial vehicle segment stood at 54,455 units. This is a massive increase of 89 per cent as compared to 28,777 vehicles sold in February 2021.

Commenting on the overall performance of the company, Vijay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “With total sales of 54,455 vehicles, we have achieved a growth of 89 per cent in February 2022. All segments registered a strong growth of 79 per cent including SUVs, which registered the highest ever monthly volume. Hopefully demand will continue. Remain strong as the COVID situation eases. We continue to closely monitor the supply of semiconductor related parts and take corrective action as appropriate.”

The total domestic sales of commercial vehicles, including electric three-wheelers, stood at 23,978 units. Compared to 11,559 commercial vehicles sold during the same month in 2021, Mahindra saw a triple digit growth of 107 per cent in February 2022. The company says that all light commercial vehicle segments of sub-2 tonne, pickup, over 3.5- tonne vehicles and heavy commercial vehicles continued their strong growth trajectory in February 2022.

As for exports, Mahindra’s total exports stood at 2,814 vehicles in February 2022, a whopping 54 per cent growth as compared to 1,827 vehicles exported during the same month in 2021. At the same time, compared to 2,861 vehicles exported in January 2022, the company saw a marginal decline of 1.6 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
