Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has released the sales report for June 2022 and the passenger vehicle segment has registered a growth of 19.06 per cent in sales at 2,75,788 units last month as compared to 2,31,633 units sold in the same month. In the same period, van sales witnessed a growth of 9.21 per cent to 10,370 units as compared to 9,495 units sold a year ago.
Three wheeler sales grew by 183.93 percent in June 2022.
Commenting on the Q1 performance, Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM said, “In this year’s Quarter-1, Sales in Passenger Vehicle Segment – 9.1 Lakh Units, in Two Wheeler Segment – 37.25 Lakh Units, in Three Wheeler Segment – 76 Thousand In Unit and Commercial Vehicles segment – 2.25 lakh units.Recently the government has taken significant measures to ease the inflationary pressure and help the common man by reducing the central excise duty on petrol and diesel and the duty structure has been changed to steel and plastics. In the same month, the sales of two wheelers increased by 23.40 percent.
Two-wheeler sales for the same month rose 23.40 per cent to 13,08,764 units as against 10,60,565 units sold a year ago. Three-wheeler sales (including electric three-wheelers) registered a jump of 183.93 per cent at 26,701 units during the same period as compared to 9,404 units sold in the same month last year. Apart from this, 47 units of the quadricycle were sold in June this year. Overall the auto industry registered a growth of 23.79 per cent at 16,11,300 units as compared to 13,01,602 units sold in the same month last year.
