The company was established in 2017 with the aim of developing a very unique ecosystem platform that will support the EV aspirations of the country with the necessary structured thought process, awareness of EV technologies and expertise about innovation. Ashwini says he found that there was a huge gap between what was taught in universities and the actual functioning of the auto industry. He says the biggest knowledge gap was in the area of electric vehicles. The Autobot Academy platform has over 2000 active learners from industry and academia, and over 200 candidates have joined the EV industry. Autobot has developed around 100 professional GET level candidates for dedicated Level 2 courses to career oriented courses, out of which more than 70 candidates have joined the EV industry. Elaborating on its product, Ashwini informed that at present most of the learning and skill development courses for auto industry aspirants are either completely online or they are traditional training institutes. Whereas with Autobot Academy, they are offering a unique blended learning model. He says, “With a mixed model we are trying to create a platform where you have access to an ecosystem both virtual and practical. And we are more towards promoting practical learning… So, we have built our own network of hubs, Autobot Hands-on Hubs. Autobot also works on lab infrastructure, developing solutions that allow universities to build their own labs, where students can gain practical knowledge of EV technology.

Autobot also provides laboratory infrastructure solutions for learners to take their knowledge to the next level. Ashwini believes that at present, universities in India lack the infrastructure to support such technology courses. To that effect, the company is also developing an end-to-end solution for universities and supports them to organize an event on their campus. Also, the company is working on setting up something like an in-campus Autobot Center of Excellence for EV technology learning. And for that, the company is developing all kinds of hardware solutions in-house that will allow universities to build their own laboratories, and students can gain practical knowledge of EV technology.

Under this vertical, the company is working on some battery management systems, sales analyzers, data loggers and similar solutions for fleet operators, start-ups and even MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) . Commenting on the company’s product development vertical, Tewari said, “These things are largely sourced from China or other countries, which are really expensive. Hence, we needed a solution which was brought under the Make in India initiative. Can be developed in India. So, we are trying to develop these in India so that the cost can be lower, more economical, and if these things are developed in India, then there will be support too.”
