Avada Group, India’s leading integrated energy conglomerate has signed an agreement to promote energy 40,000 crore ($5 billion) in the Green Ammonia Project in Kota, Rajasthan. On Wednesday, the company announced its plans to build a 1 million tonne annually green ammonia facility in the solar-powered province. The project is expected to generate direct employment for 3,500 people.

According to a Bloomberg report, Renewable energy The manufacturer plans to build a 1 million tonne annually green ammonia facility in the solar-powered province, creating direct employment for 3,500 people, Avada said in an emailed statement. Avada is planning to build the project in Kota, Rajasthan.

Earlier this year, the Indian government introduced a policy to promote the transition to green hydrogen and green ammonia for emissions reduction, especially in difficult areas.

Under the policy released in February this year, the government announced waiver of inter-state transmission fee for a period of 25 years to producers of green hydrogen and green ammonia from projects started before June 30, 2025. Also, the government announced land allocation in renewable energy parks for the manufacture of green hydrogen and green ammonia. These are some of the reforms announced in the policy.

This green hydrogen push in India has caught the attention of some of the biggest conglomerates apart from Avada, such as the Adani Group and Reliance Industries.

The policy is expected to help meet the target of producing 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030 and the associated development of renewable energy capacity.

In addition, the policy aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and also reduce crude oil imports.

In particular, hydrogen and ammonia are envisaged as future fuels to replace fossil fuels. The production of these fuels using energy from renewable energy, known as green hydrogen and green ammonia, is one of the key requirements for the nation’s environmentally sustainable energy security.

Avada aims to become a 30 GW company with an asset base of $20 billion and impact the lives of one million people by 2030. The company operates some of the largest solar and wind projects in 11 states in India.
