Ayodhya Ram Temple: The wait of a decade for the devotees of Lord Ram is going to end in January 2024. The idol of Ramlala will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the newly constructed Ayodhya Ram temple. According to sources, Mysore’s sculptor Arun Yogiraj will make the idol of Lord Ramlala from Shyamshila (rock).

A two-day informal meeting of the temple trust was held regarding the construction of the Ram temple, in which an important discussion took place regarding the consecration of Lord Ram Lala in the Ram temple. Earlier, the committee inspected the Ram Janmabhoomi complex and Ramsevakapuram. It has been informed by the Trust that opinion has been sought from scholars for ‘Pran Pratishtha’. A decision was also taken to make the idol of Ramlala, for which the sculptors have reached Ayodhya.

Through video conferencing, Ram Mandir Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, Udupi Peethadhishwar Vishwa Tirtha Prasannacharya, Kameshwar Chaupal, Ayodhya King Vimalendra Mohan Mishra, Dr. Anil Mishra and Nirmohi Akhara’s Mahant Dinendra along with Trust Treasurer Govinddev Giri were also present in the meeting. Peethadhishwara Vishwa Teertha Prasannacharya of the Udupi Pejawar Math, a prominent member of the Ram temple trust, said he was satisfied with the progress of the construction work.

“The construction of the roof of the temple will be completed by June,” he added.

Prasannacharya said that the exact date of installation of the idol is being discussed with astrologers.

He said that preparations for the kind of festivals to be celebrated would be discussed in the meeting to be held in May.

He also said that the idol would be constructed with stones brought from Karkar and Higrevankot villages in Karnataka. Mysore’s sculptor Arun Yogiraj has reached Ayodhya to make the idol.

Meanwhile, the timing of the installation of the idol is politically significant as campaigning for the upcoming general elections will begin and political parties will be vying to claim the credit for the construction of the religiously historic temple.
