You have to present a lie that sounds like the truth. A person who can tell a good lie can be a good storyteller”, he said.

“I don’t write stories, I steal them. Stories are all around you, be it epics like Mahabharata, Ramayana or real life events, stories are everywhere. You need to represent it in your own unique style,” said V Vijayendra Prasad during his workshop session.

Answering a question from a budding storyteller, the renowned storyteller said, one has to open one’s mind and assimilate everything. “You need to be your harshest critic, then only your best will come out and you can take your work to limitless heights”, he insisted.

Sharing his experience of writing for blockbusters like Baahubali and RRR, Mr. Prasad said, “I don’t write, I write stories. Everything is in my mind; The flow of the story, the characters, the twists”. A good writer, he said, must meet the needs of the director, the producer, the primary protagonist and the audience.

Vijayendra Prasad is currently working on the story of the sequel of the global blockbuster ‘RRR’.
