Unexpected deliveries can happen anywhere. This was the case when a woman started having early labor during a flight to Florida. According to reports, with the help of crew members and passengers, the baby was given birth in the toilet of a Frontier Airlines flight. The US-based flight operator confirmed this in a Facebook post on May 17.
A woman started having labor pains during a flight from Colorado to Florida. With the help of the crew and the cooperation of the passengers, the child was delivered safely on the flight.
Frontier Airlines mentioned in its Facebook post that the female passenger gave birth to a healthy baby girl. The flight operator applauded the calm and collectivity of flight attendant Diana Giraldo, who assisted the new mother. Captain Chris Nye called Diana’s gesture “exemplary” and “calm” as she accomplished the heroic task of assisting the female passenger in a safe delivery mid-air.
The airline continues to say, “The baby couldn’t wait, so early and unexpected labor occurred on a flight from Denver International Airport to Orlando International Airport (MCO). Diana helped the mother with the rear toilet and gave birth to the mother.” Captain Chris said, “Diana again went above and beyond to coordinate our return to Orlando following the completion of the flight.”
“The whole crew did a really great job. I transferred control and flight duties to my first officer as I coordinated the diversion. The dispatch did a lot by suggesting Pensacola airport and preparing a gate and paramedics for us.” Well done,” said Captain Chris.
According to Frontier Airlines, the mother has decided on Skye as her child’s middle name.
