Bagalkot Results: MH Yamanappa of INC defeats Veerabhadray Charanimath of BJP

Congress leader Methi Hullappa Yamanappa has won the recently held Karnataka Assembly elections from Bagalkot constituency by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Veerabhadraya Charanmath by a margin of 5,878 votes.

Yamanappa got 79,336 votes, including 842 postal votes, while Charanimath got 73,458 votes, including 1,301 postal votes, according to details received from the Election Commission’s website.

JD(S) candidate Devraj H Patil came third with 3,371 votes including 99 postal votes.

In short, Yamanappa got 46.57 percent of the total votes, while Charanimath got 43.12 percent. Shankar got 2.04 per cent votes.

According to the ECI website, Indian National Congress is leading in 136 seats, while BJP is leading in 64 seats and JD(S) is leading in 20 seats. So far, the Congress has won 114 seats, while the BJP has won 51. Meanwhile, the JD(S) could win only 17 seats.

Earlier, state Congress chief DK Shivakumar won the Kanakapura seat by securing 1,43,023 or 75.03% votes. He defeated R Ashok of BJP and B Nagaraju of JD(S).
