Bangladesh Cricket Board President nazmul hassan Said that former Indian cricketer Sridharan Sriram, who was named as technical advisor last week, will oversee the T20 team.
“Russell Domingo will not be part of the T20 set-up. He will be with the ODIs and Tests,” Najmul told a press briefing in Dhaka.
“There is no head coach for the T20 team,” he said.
“We have a batting coach, a spin coach, a fast bowling coach and a fielding coach. We also have a captain. We also have a technical advisor for T20s. He will give the game plan,” he said.
The 47-year-old South African Domingo was appointed Bangladesh’s head coach in August 2019 on a two-year contract. The BCB last year extended it till November 2023.
But Bangladesh have struggled in T20Is under Domingo after failing to win a game in the Super 12 stage of the World Cup in the United Arab Emirates last year.
They have won just two of their last 15 T20 matches and suffered their first loss of the series at the hands of Zimbabwe earlier this month.
Domingo said the BCB’s decision to separate the roles was a “great” idea.
“It gives me good focus on Test matches and 50-over stuff,” he said.
“We have had some good and bad results in T20s,” he said. He said, ‘I don’t think it is a bad idea to adopt a new approach in T20.
“It’s not about me,” he said. “I’m here to make the team better.”
Bangladesh leave for the Asia Cup in the UAE on Tuesday, where they will compete with Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in Group B.
The tournament starts on Saturday.

Bangladesh will play a tri-nation tournament in New Zealand in October involving the hosts and Pakistan, before traveling to Australia for the T20 World Cup.
