India lost its ‘Disco King’ on the night of 15 February 2022 Bappi Lahiri, great singer Known for bringing disco music to the fore in the ’70s and ’80s, he was often considered the Gold-Man. Apart from songs and music, Bappi Da’s love for gold later became his hallmark as he was always seen in his signature style wearing gold chains, rings and bracelets. Interestingly, his grandson Swastik Bansal aka Rego B has also adopted his grandfather’s look and is seen wearing gold jewellery. He himself confessed that he imitated his grandfather and wanted to be like him. Meanwhile, now with the unfortunate demise of Bappi Da, questions are arising as to what will happen to his coveted collection of gold jewellery. In 2014, Bappi Da told the Election Commission of India that he had only 754 grams of gold jewelery worth Rs 17.7 lakh, which was even more shocking to the authorities. However, his wife, who is a housewife, has more gold than him. Giving clarity on Bappi Da’s gold affairs, a report in a news portal has revealed that the musician’s children plan to preserve their gold collection to keep their father’s legacy intact. The source said, ‘The family is devastated and mourned at this time. But they will do everything to preserve his individual pieces. Like the chains and rings he wore every day, it was kept in a separate box which Bappi da always carried with him. Apart from daily jewellery, Bappi Da also received a lot of gifts from fans and those who work with him – in the form of gold. All those pieces will now be preserved as part of his legacy. A musician also told a publication that Bappi Da was particular about providing access to his collection. He also did not want anyone to touch his jewellery. If reports are to be believed, Bappi Da has amassed chains, pendants, rings, bracelets, Ganesh idols, attractive bracelets with diamonds, even gold frames and gold cufflinks over the years.
