‘Baseless, untrue’: Congress media reports claiming possible alliance with TMC for Goa polls

The Congress on Monday rubbished all media reports claiming a possible alliance of the party with the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) for the upcoming Goa elections 2022. Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal called such reports “baseless and untrue” and said the Grand Old Party was “confident” of winning the state elections soon. Goa assembly elections are to be held on February 14.

It was pointed out that the Congress, which has tie-up with the Goa Forward Party, is also eyeing an alliance with other opposition parties to ensure its victory in the state and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi called on senior party leaders Venugopal and P. Chidambaram met. In Delhi to discuss the same.

He said on Twitter, “The rumor discussed by Shri @RahulGandhi on possible alliance with TMC in today’s meeting is completely baseless and untrue. I assure that the Congress party is confident – we will bring Goa back on the path of progress soon.”
