The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Saturday canceled the occupancy certificate (OC) of the 2,000-unit Sobha City Apartments in Thanisandra Main Road, leaving the homeowners in limbo.

The BBMP, in an official order, withdrew the OC of Sobha City, a project developed and sold by M/s Sobha Limited in Bengaluru. It alleged that the apartment builder had submitted a fake No Objection Certificate (NOC) of the fire department, and hence, the BBMP took back the OC issued earlier to the apartment.

“There are around 2,000 flats in this project. The builder has obtained building plans and OC from BBMP by fraudulently with forged documents, alleged RTI activist and Bangalore City Flat Owners Welfare Association (BCFOWA) Anil Kalgi.

“On the complaint of Srinivasa Rao Talla, one of the flat owners of Shobha City, BBMP after a thorough investigation, has withdrawn all the approvals and occupancy certificates issued to Sobha City on the basis of forged documents, making all the buildings illegal Have gone The investment dream home of homebuyers has been completely washed away,” he said.

Responding to the allegations, a representative of Sobha said, “The matter will not affect any resident. Sobha is following all the rules and will take appropriate remedial action.”
