Overcoming all odds, former cricketer and World Cup winning player for India, Roger Binny has become the 36th President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In the recent developments, Sourav Ganguly has resigned from the post of BCCI President. He was offered the role of IPL President but he turned it down immediately. Jay Shah will continue as the BCCI secretary and Arun Singh Dhumal has been made the new chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Indian cricket team, especially in 2022, has been plagued by several injuries and star players like Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah And Deepak Chahar has missed out on the all-important T20 World Cup. The newly elected President of BCCI, Roger Binny has now addressed the issue and expressed his desire to get to the bottom of it.

Roger Binny added:

We would like to improve what we can to reduce players’ injuries. Recurrent injuries to players is a matter of concern, and we want to get to the bottom of it and see how it can be changed for the better. We have excellent doctors and coaches at the National Cricket Academy (in Bengaluru), but we must focus on minimizing injuries and improving recovery.

BCCI President Roger Binny also stressed on the condition of the pitches used in domestic cricket.

There needs to be more life in the wickets at home so that our teams don’t have adjustment problems while traveling abroad like Australia, where there is more pace and bounce.

World Cup winner Binny, 67, was elected unopposed at the BCCI AGM (Annual General Meeting) along with Jay Shah, who was re-elected as secretary for a second consecutive term. Ganguly was present at the meeting as a representative of the Cricket Association of Bengal, where he is set to return as the president. Binny, who played 27 Tests and 72 ODIs for India, will take charge ahead of the ODI World Cup in India next year.
