BCCI releases schedule for India’s home series vs Australia, South Africa

BCCI released the full schedule for the T20 series vs Australia and limited overs matches vs South Africa to be held in September 2022. India’s international domestic season will begin in September 2022–23 with a three-match T20I series against Australia and will be followed by a three-match T20I and ODI series against South Africa. Mohali will host the first T20I against Australia with Nagpur and Hyderabad hosting the second and third respectively. The home series against South Africa will begin in Thiruvananthapuram. The second T20I will be played in Guwahati on October 2, 2022, Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, followed by the final T20I in Indore.

The action will then shift to Lucknow on October 6 where the ODI series will begin. Ranchi and Delhi will host the second and third ODIs respectively.

These ODIs and T20Is will serve India better in its quest for the team for the T20 World Cup 2022. Australia and South Africa will also consider the series in India as a preparatory tour for the mega event. Australia are the defending champions in the T20 World Cup and will look to defend the title in their backyard. South Africa, on the other hand, have never won an ICC tournament but they are a team that is in very good form at the moment.

Hopefully India will finish their experiment in this series vs Australia and Proteas. These days India is trying different options due to the disappearance of KL Rahul. In the away T20 series vs England, India tried Rishabh Pant on top and Suryakumar Yadav is doing well in the ongoing series vs West Indies. Many experts feel that with the T20 World Cup getting closer, India needs to ensure that it has a team ready for the mega event.
