BCI: Supreme Court refuses to entertain plea challenging BCI’s election notification. India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Supreme court on Friday refused to entertain a petition challenging the notification issued by Bar Council of India ,bci) to conduct the election of its office bearers on 6 February.
a bench of Justice L Nageswara Rao and Abhay S Oka dismissed the petition filed by two advocates, seeking 30 per cent reservation for women. State Bar Councils,
“We are not inclined to entertain this writ petition filed under Article 32 of the Constitution of India, challenging the election notification dated 14th January, 2022, issued by Respondent No. 1 for holding elections to the office bearers of the Bar Council of India. The writ petition is dismissed.
“However, the petitioners are free to approach the BCI and make a representation for redressal of their grievances,” the bench said.
The apex court was hearing a petition filed by advocates Pooja Gupta And Julie George Challenging the notification issued by BCI for holding elections of its office bearers on 6th February.
The petition alleged that BCI has also extended the tenure of office bearers through notification and the extended tenure is in violation of Articles 14 and 19(1)(g) and Article 21 of the Constitution.
