Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez send Venice for a toss at ‘The Last Duel’ premiere

The film was co-written by Affleck and Matt Damon, marking the first time the two actors have worked on a script together since “Good Will Hunting”.

Actors and close friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reunited in “The Last Duel”, a drama about the rape of a noble woman in medieval France, directed by Ridley Scott, and which premiered Friday. takes place at the Venice Film Festival.

The film tells the true story of the last legitimate duel in 14th-century France, when two knights set out to determine the veracity of a woman’s claim that she had been raped.

Damon starred as Jean de Carrouge, the woman’s husband, fighting to avenge her and restore his family’s honor by challenging his old friend-turned-rival Jacques Le Gris, played by Adam Driver.

There was paparazzi on the Lido waterfront for a snapshot of the red carpet glamor in the film, when Affleck arrived in Venice with singer Jennifer Lopez, in their first outing at an official event since they recently rekindled their romance after 20 years.

“Yes, I consider myself a feminist,” Affleck, who plays an all-powerful, masculine count in the film, told a press conference after a screening.

He said that in the Middle Ages women were treated not as human beings but as the property of men as “the disproportionate power of men in society”, there were residual aspects to it.

The film is divided into three chapters, each written from the perspective of the three protagonists, with some scenes subtly altered and repeated to reflect different perspectives.

The film was co-written by Affleck and Damon, the first time the two actors have worked on a script together since “Good Will Hunting”, with a female perspective written by Nicole Holofsner.
