Former England captain Michael Vaughan has blamed franchise tournaments around the world for players’ retirement from a form of cricket.

In an unexpected decision, all-rounder Ben Stokes, a member of the 2019 World Cup winning England squad, announced that he will retire from One Day Internationals.

Stokes, who will play his farewell ODI against South Africa on July 19, said he does not want to replace any other cricketer, knowing that he will not be able to give his 100 per cent in the 50-over format. Play.

A disappointed Vaughan said players should not retire from a format at the age of 31. “The bilateral ODI/T20 series will have to go if all the boards around the world are desperate for their own franchise tournament!! Something has to give.. It shouldn’t be players retiring from a format at the age of 31!! !!”

After his ODI retirement, Stokes continued: “Three formats are unstable for me right now. Not only do I feel that my body is letting me down because of the schedule and what is expected of us, but I also feel that I am going to replace the other player who can give my all to Jose (Butler) and the rest of the team.

Stokes, who made his ODI debut in 2011, was recently named as the Test captain of England. He led the Three Lions to a 3–0 win against New Zealand before leading England to a series-level win over India in the rescheduled fifth Test in Birmingham. He had a tremendous ODI series against India as he managed only 48 runs in three matches.

“It is time for someone else to progress as a cricketer and create incredible memories over the past 11 years. I will give my all to Test cricket, and now, with this decision, I feel I am making my full commitment.” Can also give in T20 format.
