Olympic Tennis Champion Belinda Bencic have tested positive for COVID-19 after his visit to Abu Dhabi and has “severe symptoms”, he said on Tuesday, a day later Rafa Nadali announced that he too had tested positive.
Both players went to Abu Dhabi to play in Mubadal world tennis championship Last week’s exhibition program. Nadal also said he had some “unpleasant moments” after testing positive upon his return to Spain.
“Unfortunately and even though I have been fully vaccinated, I recently tested positive for COVID-19,” Bencic said on Twitter.

“I am currently in isolation and taking all precautionary measures to get through this as best as possible as I am experiencing quite severe symptoms (fever, pain, chills).
“While the timing is not ideal – as I was in the final stages of my preparation Australian Open Swing – I’ll make my way to Australia as soon as I’m cleared and over the isolation period.”
Bencic lost to Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who replaced US Open champion Emma Radukanu, after the latter tested positive for COVID-19 and withdrew from the event.
The Australian Open is starting on January 17.
