Bengal BJP meets Governor to complain about Mamata Banerjee government’s ‘Khela Hobe Divas’ celebrations

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation headed by Bengal BJP chief Sukanto Majumdar on Tuesday met Governor La Ganesan and expressed concern over Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led government’s plan to organize ‘Khela Hobe Divas’ celebrations today.

In a letter to the governor, Majumdar wrote: “The Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief has called for Khela Hobe Day. It will be used to protest the arrest of TMC leader Anubrata Mondal. In addition, the word Khela Hobe is given by Mandal. We have apprehension that the ruling party will inflict violence on the BJP.

Mandal has been arrested in an alleged animal smuggling case.

He also wrote that as the CM has supported Mandal in the past, he has instigated his people.

After the meeting, Majumdar said, “TMC is on the backfoot as their ministers are being arrested. In such a situation, they will resort to violence by making the police a shield. We don’t mind playing, but the ground should be at the same level. That’s why we told the governor about it.”

Even during the tenure of former governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, BJP used to meet him many times, which was often ridiculed by TMC. So far, unlike Dhankhar, the new governor has not tweeted about the BJP’s visit.

The TMC started celebrating ‘Khela Hobe Divas’ after winning the Bengal elections last year. Football is given to every club to organize the match.

TMC leader Jayaprakash Majumdar said, “They think we will make their playground! ridiculous.”

Majumdar, in his letter to the governor on the addition of ‘Khela Hobe Diwas’, said that Bengal is the only state that did not follow the central government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Interestingly, Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has also planned to move the court claiming that he has been barred from performing the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra’.
