The incident took place when the women were coming from the Women’s Day bike rally.

A video of a man harassing two women bikers on NICE Road in Bengaluru has once again raised the issue of women’s safety. According to a report in Times of India, the incident took place near Gotigere in South Bengaluru when the women bikers, Priyanka Prasad and Sharon Samuel, were returning from the Women’s Day bike rally. A man posing as an advocate came and asked them not to stand on the road while both the bike riders were standing on the roadside. After questioning Priyanka and Sharon, the man snatched the keys of the bike and left. The whole incident was caught on camera and Priyanka shared it on social media.

“That’s the problem. Please help us. We are at Bannerghatta Entry Good Road,” wrote Priyanka in the caption.

In the video, the accused man is standing on the side of the road and is gesturing to the women to leave. “Why is he stopping us? We have come here to drink water,” the woman can be heard saying. Thereafter, a man, identified as Manjunath, can be seen coming from behind, crossing the road to get close to the women. The man asked the woman to leave saying, “This is my property, you should not be standing here. What are you doing here?”

In response to the man, the women claimed that they had stayed to drink water, when Manjunath could be heard saying, “You cannot drink water here.”

He asked them to drink water at the toll gate and told them not to escalate the situation. Once again, he repeated his request to leave claiming that they were blocking his way.

When he saw that the women were not listening to him, Manjunath took the keys from a bike and went away claiming that he would teach them a lesson.

In another video, Priyanka can be seen urging someone to help her. Priyanka and Sharon said that both stood in the sun for about 45 minutes and the police have not yet reached them. Both also claimed that they had not gone to the washroom.

Expectedly, innumerable users took to the comments section in support of Priyanka and Sharon. Many users expressed the hope that if this person is really an advocate, then the Bar Council must take some action and wrote, “I hope the Bar Council will take strict action on this.”

According to the latest update, the police have registered an FIR based on the complaint of the woman. A counter FIR was also lodged on behalf of the person.
