New Delhi:

With more and more workforce resuming offline classes in offices and schools, metro rail in Bengaluru will now last longer, starting tomorrow.

Namma Metro will operate trains from 6 am to 10 pm from tomorrow, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation said in a statement, adding that the last Metro service of the day will depart from terminal stations at 9:30 pm throughout the week.

Frequency will also increase on Purple Line and Green Line from Saturday and trains will run every five minutes during peak hours and every 10 minutes at other times.

“Train services will be available from Silk Institute and Kengeri stations every 10 minutes throughout the day,” an official release said. Frequency may be affected on weekends and holidays.

The release said that even as services are close to normalcy, passengers will have to follow the COVID protocols – wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and hand hygiene.

Bengaluru Urban today reported 310 cases of coronavirus in 24 hours, with six related deaths. The city also discharged 276 patients during the same period.
