A fake RBI notification offering Rs 4.59 cr to beneficiary: PIB Fact Check

Be careful, a government agency has warned Press Information Bureau (PIB) in a fake notification issued in the name of Reserve Bank of India claiming to give Rs 4,59 million to the beneficiary.

Via its Fact Check Twitter handle, PIB warned that the RBI’s official compensation payment notification is under way, that the RBI does not offer such payments or funds, and that the RBI will never collect personal information. Does not send calls or emails.

The fake notification states that beneficiaries were listed in the recent schedule for payment of Rs 4.59 crore and personal details were sought for depositing that amount.
