Although Apple declined to comment, the BGMI game app has also been removed from the company’s India App Store.

However, it looks like the BGMI publisher may have seen the ban coming. Less than a fortnight later, Crafton released an update that allowed users to download the APK version of the game from its website. “Not only is Battlegrounds Mobile India available on the App Store and Google Play Store, but players can now download the game from the BGMI website as well! With the latest update, users can directly click on the APK download button on the website to install the game. Do it.” BGMI developer Crafton said in the release.

Incidentally, no other popular mobile game (Top 5 in India by downloads) offers APK files on their website. Garena Free Fire, the most popular Android game of 2021 also does not provide apk download option to the users. Garena Free Fire was banned by the government in February 2022.
