BGMI banned in India? Indian version of PUBG Mobile missing from App Store

New Delhi: Google and Apple on Thursday removed popular battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) from their respective app stores following a government order.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is the Indian version of PUBG Mobile, developed and published by Crafton exclusively for the players of the country.

The game was released on July 2, 2021 for Android devices and on August 18, 2021 government banned pubg With Chinese apps on national security concerns.

A Google spokesperson told IANS: “Upon receipt of the order, following the established procedure, we have notified the affected developer and blocked access to the app available on the Play Store in India.”

Apple also removed the app from its App Store.

Crafton had yet to comment on the development.

Earlier this month, the game developer announced that its BGMI had crossed 100 million registered users.

It also said that BGMI has completed one year of being the most favorite sport in India.

“The first year of BGMI has been a resounding success with millions of players joining in to experience the game. We partner with the community with the goal of curating major tournaments, Indian-themed collaborations and unique gameplay for our Indian community. user-focused programs,” Crafton CEO Changhan Kim said in a statement.

In the past year, the game developer invested nearly $100 million to improve India’s local video game, e-sports and entertainment startups to build a healthy gaming start-up ecosystem.

Crafton also said that in 2022 there will be 4 pro and semi-pro tournaments (BMOC, the recently concluded BMPS Season 1, BGIS Season 2 and BMPS Season 2) with cash prizes of Rs 6 crore, while players across India will get their prizes. A platform will be provided to showcase the skills.
