Bhopal District Collector Takes Action Against Schools For Excessive Fee Hikes – News18

It is reported that several private schools in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, have increased their fees without permission. The District Collector of the place has taken strict action against the offenders in question. Here are all the details on the news.

On Thursday, Bhopal District Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh took action against four schools for hiking their fees by 10 per cent to 15 per cent. As per the reports, the institutions violated the Madhya Pradesh Niji Vidyalaya Adhiniyam, 2017 and hiked the fees above the allotted limit. As per the reports, they increased the fee without the knowledge of the District Education Officer. Moreover, not only was the fee hiked, but the parents had to separately pay for copies, books, uniforms and other materials.

The order was issued against these four schools, three of which are located in Kolar. The schools are, DPS, Sri Chaitanya Techno, Sage International School and Campion School, located in Bhauri. For a session, the private schools are allowed to increase the fee by 10 per cent.

The District Collector has asked the schools to refund the fees to the parents. An action will also be taken against them, reports stated further. Furthermore, if any institution hikes its fee without permission, it will be fined.

Talking to ANI, District Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh stated, “On the direction of the Chief Minister, schools are being investigated to see where the fees have increased beyond the prescribed limit.” He further mentioned that they have received complaints from 30 to 31 schools, where the fees were found to be hiked. Action will be taken against these schools too, said the District Collector. He added, “We have got all the schools in the state capital Bhopal verified by forming a team under the leadership of SDM, and wherever such a situation is found, we will take action.”
