BHU asks question on ‘beef’ in catering exam, students claim hurt Hindu sentiments

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) asked questions on beef in the Catering Technology and Hotel Management exam, raising concerns. In the question paper a question was asked to ‘write the classification of beef’. define.’ It further asked to explain the cooking techniques of beef. This did not go down well with a section of students who have questioned the teaching of ‘cow meat’ at the university.

In particular, the cow is a sacred animal in Hinduism, and many claim that the question is not fair and sensitive to Hindu culture and norms. The students also claim that since the founder of the university was pro-animal, especially for cows, these questions have hurt their sentiments.

The group of students demanded clarification and demanded an inquiry against the question paper setter. A group of students have submitted a memorandum to the registrar after an exam question on beef.

“The question asked was from the catering technology and hotel management course syllabus. It is unfortunate that controversy is being created,” a university spokesperson said in an official statement.

Meanwhile, a BHU LLM student dies by suicide, Before passing away, he had left a status on his WhatsApp, which said, “Goodbye to all of you..Sorry to sorry.”

Last month, the question paper of MA History asked the students of BHU to name the book and author in which it is mentioned ‘Demolition of Adi Vishweshwar Temple by Aurangzeb’, This question was asked at a time when the matter regarding the Gyanvapi Masjid-Adi Vishweshwar Temple dispute is still going on in the court.
