The Bangalore International Centre, on May 20, will host an award-winning contemporary dance production from Spain that will bring together Spanish National Dance Award winners Daniel Abreu and Dásil González.

As Daniel explains, La Desnudez means “nudity, but it is not about physical nudity, but about emotional. It talks about the intimacy between two human beings. How to love oneself, It’s like a poetic proposition about knowing. Two characters on stage allude to an idea of ​​polarity and are on a journey from death to love with the deep sound of wind blowing through metal pipes.” shared that he created this piece when he was doing his master’s in family therapy with psychology as a major. “That was when I had a concept about what it is that helps a couple brings together? Is it an emotional need or in this case (that choreography) the way in which the couple treats each other. It is like a contract, which brings the couple together,” reveals the choreographer, who also adds that he is looking forward to collaborating with the classical dancer here.

Hugo Portas will be the live musician. The music was composed by Tarquinio Merula, Claudio Monteverdi, Gabriel Faure and Henri Purcell. And Daniels says it will be a 60-minute performance and “the work has a musical and a story to tell,” says Daniels, also a dancer, who shares that she never dreamed of being a dancer. but studied psychology and “wanted to be a journalist. But life put me in the dance world and here I am.”

The performance is organized by the Attakkalari Center for Movement Arts and supported by the Spanish Embassy, ​​New Delhi and Acción Cultural Espaola (AC/E) under a PICE grant.
