Big action of NCB and Indian Navy in Kerala, 2500 kg GPS worth 12 thousand crores caught

According to NCB officials, around 3200 kgs of methamphetamine, 500 kgs of heroin and 529 kgs of charas have been seized in the operation so far. This operation has been launched against the drugs smugglers from Afghanistan to India.

In view of the threats to national security posed by sea-borne smugglers of heroin and other drugs in the Indian Ocean Region, NCB’s vision was to launch ‘Operation Samudragupt’ under the chairmanship of SN chief. In January 2022, NCB operations started this operation under the supervision of Sanjay Singh. The basic objective of the operation was to intercept information on ships carrying narcotics.

Earlier the NCB shared some details with the shipment and separate ‘Operation Samudragupta’, which led to the arrest of 19 drug smugglers in two operations by the Sri Lankan Navy in the months of December 2022 and April 2023, along with 286 kg of heroin and 128 crates of methamphetamine. Myna was recovered.

As the joint operation with the Intelligence Wing of the Indian Navy continued, intelligence was received about the whereabouts of a ‘mother ship’ carrying huge amounts of methamphetamine mining off the Makran coast. Mother ships are large ocean ships. On the basis of this code, the Navy intercepted a large ship going to sea. 134 sacks of suspected Methamfet mine were recovered from the ship and an Iranian national was also taken into custody. Verandah bags, Pakistani nationals, boat and some other items intercepted from the main ship were brought to China at Mattancherry jetty on 13 May 2023 and handed over to NCB for further action.

Earlier in February 2022, a joint team of NCB and Indian Navy had seized 529 kg of hashish, 221 kg of methamphetamine and 13 kg of heroin off the coast of Gujarat. It was brought from Balochistan and Afghanistan. At the same time, in a joint operation in October 2022, an Iranian boat was intercepted off the coast of Kerala. A total of 200 kg of high-grade heroin was seized, which was also lying in Afghanistan. Six Iranian contraband smugglers were arrested in the operation.
